*As SWC, Ologunagba on collision course over fate of suspended Chairman

Starnews NG can report that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ondo State is embroiled in a heated dispute concerning the suspension of their State Chairman, Hon. Fatai Adams.
This conflict has sparked a clash of opinions between the National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, and the state executives.
Earlier, Starnews NG reported that the State Working Committee (SWC) suspended Adams, citing alleged anti-party activities and actions detrimental to the party’s reputation.
However, a swift response from the National Working Committee (NWC) dismissed the suspension, declaring it null and void, emphasizing that the state committee lacked the authority to suspend the chairman without recourse to the national body.
In a retaliatory move, the Ondo State Chapter of the PDP defended the suspension, asserting that according to the party’s constitution, all levels possess the power to discipline erring members within their ranks, including the State Chairman.
They highlighted that nine out of eleven SWC members signed the suspension letter, signaling a lack of confidence in Adams’ leadership.
The clash intensified as some party leaders in the state hinted at a persistent standoff, affirming the continued suspension of the State Chairman.
They suggested the possibility of legal action, indicating a potential court battle between Ologunagba and Adams, who hails from the same region. Some of them who spoke to Starnews NG under the condition of anonymity said the state chairman, Fatai Adams, remains suspended.
According to one of them, “Adams was duly suspended by 9 out of the 11 members of the state working committee. Ologunagba’s hasty press statement shows he was acting alone. The NWC of our party couldn’t have hurriedly sat within an hour to quash the suspension of the state chairman without a review”, the source said.
Meanwhile, Starnews NG reports that the escalating conflict within the Ondo PDP has deepened the divide between the national and state party structures, raising concerns about the party’s unity and stability ahead of next year governorship election.
