Ondo INEC inferno: Card readers, electoral materials reportedly destroyed

State office of the Independent National Electoral commission(INEC) in Akure, Ondo State Capital is currently burning, Starnews Nigeria has gathered.

Card readers and electoral materials were said to have been destroyed by the inferno according to a reliable source at the INEC office.

The fire outbreak started around 8:45pm at the ICT unit of the commission.

Over 5000 card readers were said to have been destroyed in the inferno.

Despite the fact that the Ondo State fire service is less than 500 meters from the commission and despite, they are yet to arrive the scene as at the time of this report and the governorship election in the state is already scheduled for October 10, 2020.
