The Ondo Action Alliance (OAA) has voiced concern over what it describes as an intrusion into the state afforestation field by individuals it labels as impostors.

In an open letter directed to the state Governor, Hon. Lucky Aiyedatiwa, the group, through its president, Kolawole Ajobike, conveyed its discontent on Friday.

The letter reads, “Ondo State afforestation field, a veritable source of revenue for the state, has been much abused in recent times with the rate of fraud that has been visited on this sector by lawless citizens and certain fraudulent agents of government, both genuine and hoax.

“One would have thought that the new government, under Honourable Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, whose body language strongly suggests loathing manipulations and usurpation of government powers, would deter these fraudulent characters who have since been invading our forest to defraud the state, but the practice, instead, took a new dimension, to our utter dismay.

“For the avoidance of doubts, we have on good authority that two individuals, namely: Mr Omoyele Awolowo and Mr Nejo Shina, are currently parading themselves as new handlers of the state afforestation field. Whereas, we do no that Governor Aiyedatiwa has yet to announce new leadership for this government’s department.

“It is to this extent that we are calling on the attention of Mr Governor to expedite action, forthwith, in this direction, and consequently arrest the the ugly trend in the interest of salvaging the dwindling economy of the state and the good image of the new government under Aiyedatiwa.

“We do hope that Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa will take immediate and effective action to halt this disturbing issue before untoward individuals loot our commonwealth to a naught.

Meanwhile, a viral letter that Ondo State Government has changed the leadership of wood revenue in the state, is fake.

Starnews NG, in its findings, reports that the letter allegedly signed by the former Deputy Chief of Staff to the Governor, Mr. Omojuwa Olusegun, who is now the Chief of Staff to Governor Aiyedatiwa, was couched to favour two individuals who claimed to be in charge of afforestation in Ondo State.

The fake letter read, “I am directed to refer to the above subject matter and to inform you that there is a change in the leadership of the Wood revenue due to the recent development in the State, in view of this, you are kindly requested to henceforth recognize Mr. Omayele Awolowo & Mr. Nejo Shina (A.K.A Abugt) as the new Icadership in this respect. Kindly comply with this directive. Thank you”.

To further give credence to the findings made by Starnews NG, the Chief Press Secretary to the State Governor, Prince Ebenezer Adeniyan, described the letter as fake.

In a chat with Adeniyan, he simply said: “This has been dealt with before now. The letter is fake”.
