Ondo Govt generates N900m in 11 months

The Ondo State Internal Revenue Service (ODIRS) on Monday, said it had generated about N900,000,000 million from January to November.

This agency disclosed this while rewarding some tax payers at its headquarters in Akure, the state capital.

This was even as Okada rider, Adio Ojo has emerged winner of the Star Prize of the (ODIRS) raffle draw for motorcycle (Okada) and Tricycles riders.

Ojo won a brand new motorcycle worth N900,000 as others won different prizes ranging from bags of rice, groundnut oil, pack of soft drinks and many other prizes.

The winner of the star Prize, Adio Ojo thanked God and the Ondo State Government for the unexpected Christmas gift.

In his speech, the Acting Governor of the state ,Hon. lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa commended the motorcycle and tricycle riders for their contribution to the smooth running of the state.

The Acting Governor, represented by the Special Adviser to the State Governor on Transport, Mr Tobi Ogunleye described the event as celebration of hard work and consistency on the part of the riders.

Aiyedatiwa said despite the cash crunch and CBN policy of naira redesigned under its former Governor Godwin Emefiele , you still increased the revenue generation of the state to this level.

He said: “You have all done well in terms of your contribution to the development of the state and for not allowing men of the underworld to use you against your people.”

“We expect more decency from you are as this year is winding down , continue to cooperate with the government by not engaging in fraudulent act of selling fake tickets”,he said.

In his welcome address, Chairman of Ondo State Internal Revenue Service, Mr Tolu Adegbie disclosed that the board has generated about N900,000,000 million from January to November saying they have already got 1billion naira at this period last year.

He attributed the difference between what they got at this period last year and this year to the cash crunch and CBN naira redesigned policy under its former Governor, Godwin Emefiele.

He said there is still room for improvement saying they could still meet up with their target before the end of the year.

The special Adviser to Ondo State Governor, on Special Duties and strategy, Dr. Doyin Odebowale, said they increased revenue generation on Okada and Tricycle riders from N400,000 they met it to N78,000,000 monthly

Odebowale said the previous administration only generate N400,000 monthly before the advent of the current administration, saying it was not an easy task for them to achieve the feat but thank God for everything they have able to achieve.

“We blocked a lot of loopholes, we stopped the sales of emblem to the riders and other means of stealing”, he stated.
