- Releases WhatsApp conversation with Omowunmi
- As Finance Commissioner begins legal battle
In a dramatic turn of events, Betty Anyanwu-Akeredolu, the wife of former Ondo State Governor Rotimi Akeredolu, has released a screenshot of a WhatsApp conversation with the current Finance Commissioner, Omowunmi Isaac, who allegedly accused her of killing her husband in a heated exchange.
The WhatsApp conversation has already sparked intense discussions across social media platforms. Meanwhile, Starnews NG has reached the Finance Commissioner over the alleged conversation but she has neither confirmed it nor deny it.

She told our Publisher that her Lawyer has issued a letter that deserves a reply, adding, however, that “anyone can continue to share private conversations and defame themselves”.
Meanwhile, in the explosive chat which Madam Akeredolu personally sent to Starnews NG Publisher, Akinrinlola Olumide, the Ondo Finance Commissioner, Mrs. Isaac allegedly claimed that there is “no office of the first nonsense in Ondo,” a statement that has raised eyebrows and ignited controversy.
The Finance Commissioner has previously threatened legal action against Betty following a viral interview she conducted with Starnews NG, where she made pointed remarks about the current state of governance in Ondo.
The legal threat, articulated in a petition from Omowunmi’s lawyer, Gbenga Adeyemi and Co., has been circulating widely online since yesterday. In response to the legal notice, Betty confirmed to Starnews NG Publisher, that she had received the letter and found it “laughable.” She stated, “I have consulted my lawyers,” signalling her intent to defend herself against the allegations.
In her release of the WhatsApp screenshots, Betty further stated, “Apart from boasting that ‘No more nonsense first lady office in Ondo,’ she (Omowunmi) has accused me of killing Aketi and claims she has proof. I can’t wait for the proof in court!”
The accusations have intensified the already fraught relationship between the two women.
Starnews NG reports that Mrs. Omowunmi Isaac, yesterday, issued an ultimatum through her lawyer, demanding that Betty apologise and withdraw her comments, which she labels as defamatory, slanderous, and libelous.
The controversy escalated when Betty addressed comments raised during her recent interview regarding Ondo State politics. When asked about claims that the people said (not Starnews opinion) that Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa was not in charge and that his Finance Commissioner was pulling the strings, she responded, “No comments. However, it’s worth noting that this same Commissioner was sacked from her position during Aketi’s first administration for financial malfeasance. You can connect the dots as to why Lucky brought her back. We are watching.”
The release of the WhatsApp conversation by Betty has sent shockwaves through social media, becoming a hot topic of discussion and further unsettling the already charged atmosphere of Ondo State politics.
As the situation develops, all eyes are on the unfolding drama, with many eager to see how the parties involved will respond to the escalating tensions.
Stay tuned to Starnews NG for updates on this developing story as we continue to reach out for comments from all parties involved.
