Ogunleye also confirmed that it was true that Oke regretted ever returning to the APC with his followers after the last Ondo State governorship election.

He said on phone : ” Chief Oke has not planned to defect from the APC to PDP or any party. But his supporters from the 18 local governments have been agitating and complaining bitterly over how they have sidetracked and excluded from all the programmes, decision making and activities of the party since they return back to the APC.

“Few of them were walking out of the party gradually to other small political parties but instead of allowing that to happen, they decided to meet from across the 18 local governments of Ondo State where a meeting was scheduled with Oke and they resolved they wanted to leave the APC, with pressure on chief Oke to lead them out of the party as they were not being carried along in all the activities of the party

“While chief Oke didn’t like it that he took them to the APC and regretted such due to the way they have been treated, he however appealed to them for more time to allow him meet with the leadership of the party in southwest and with the national working committee (NWC) of the APC in Abuja to brief them before their decision to leave the party could be considered by him,” Ogunleye told Starnews on phone.

He said Chief Oke will listen to his followers if eventually meet with the APC NWC and southwest leaders without any remedies to the situation on ground.
