Eddy Olafeso, a former National Chairman, South West, of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has boasted that the party would come out victorious in the November 16 governorship election in Ondo State.
Olafeso made this known on Wednesday during a seminar for media advisers of PDP governorship aspirants in Ondo State.
He emphasized the anticipation among the state’s populace for the PDP’s comeback in 2025.
Asserting the PDP’s formidable status in elections, he affirmed the party’s resolve to recapture power from the APC, underscoring the opportune moment for the opposition to reignite its authority in the state.
Olafeso said: “With the future, we have shared together in the Peoples Democratic Party, no matter the challenges we are facing at this moment, we are very sure and confident that the future will be better and that the PDP will take back power and connect to do what it did in the past to develop Nigeria. I am very confident that we will return.
“Part of what we are doing at this moment started with an internal process of communication with ourselves, and once we get that one right, once we understand our history, once we understand the fact that we need one another and that if we are not united, there will be problems ahead of us.
“We are sure that the future will take care of itself, and we are very resolute, besides that, the future of Nigeria, especially the current situation that Nigerians are facing under APC, can’t continue forever.
“There’s no middle class anymore; there is poverty in the land; there is insecurity. Then what else can we hope for but the support of the people that will make the PDP’s dream of creating prosperity for this country happen as quickly as possible?”
“Democracy is the form of government created by civilised minds, highly educated people who understand the meaning of forgiveness, who understand the meaning of learning, and who understand the meaning of listening.
“Democracy is the service for the people and developing the land much more than we have it, and I can guarantee you the participants have been better served from this seminar.”
Describing the seminar as novel and newer, he said “That’s why I have celebrated the executive members for thinking out this and encouraging the very serious aspirants to come and be part of this, and some of them are here.
” So I’m very excited that we are going somewhere. We’re heading somewhere, and that is success; that is victory.”
Addressing the gathering, Chief Tola Alabere, the state PDP chairman, urged all participants to represent the party with integrity, highlighting that the seminar aimed to foster unity among the aspirants and their supporters.
Alabere said, “The main reason for this programme is to tell you that the PDP is the party in Ondo State. I must tell you that I don’t see the PDP as an opposition party in the state because we’re supposed to be in government.
“It is the PDP itself that usually works against the party when it comes to elections. We usually divide ourselves after the primary and do other sought-after things.
“The roles all of you are playing today are not geared towards bringing the aspirants together. What you write on social media platforms is not geared towards strengthening the party.
“The major reason any political party is contesting an election is to win and this is the best opportunity for us in this state. We are more than APC in Ondo State. I want to plead with you to see this project as yours and work towards the emergence of the PDP in the next election.”
