In a bid to outclass the Lucky Aiyedatiwa led administration, the Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the November 16 gubernatorial election in Ondo State, Mr. Agboola Ajayi, has vowed to pay N76,000 minimum wage if elected as the Governor of the State.
This comes as the state Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa had assured workers in the state of his commitment to pay N73,000 to workers in the Sunshine State.
During his campaign, the Governor confidently said the workers would receive the new minimum wage from October, 2024.
However, Agboola Ajayi during a debate organized by Channels TV yesterday and anchored by a renowned broadcaster, Seun Okinbaloye, said he would pay 76k as against the 73k being paid by the State Government.
While giving this assurance, the PDP Candidate also promised to turn around the fortunes of the state through developmental projects and timely payment of salaries.
Starnews NG reports that following the prevailing hardship coupled with its biting effects in the country, many states have begun the implementation of the new minimum wage.
To this end, states like Lagos, Rivers have announced that they would pay a whooping amount of 80k as minimum wage for workers.
