…Reiterates Commitment To Constituents’ Wellbeing
In a bold step to transform healthcare delivery across his constituency, the Member representing Okitipupa/Irele Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Omo’ba Okunjimi Odimayo, on Saturday, flagged off the construction of a 20-ward ultramodern hospital in Ode Irele, the headquarters of Irele Local Government Area of Ondo State.
According to a statement issued by Victor Adedeji, Director of Media and Publicity to Omo’ba Okunjimi Odimayo on Sunday, the groundbreaking ceremony, which attracted a large crowd of supporters, community leaders and party stalwarts, marked the official commencement of a landmark medical infrastructure project designed to bridge the healthcare gap in the area.
Speaking at the occasion, Hon. Odimayo reiterated his unwavering resolve to deliver impactful projects that address the core needs of the people. According to him, the hospital project is part of his broader vision to provide accessible, affordable, and quality healthcare services to his constituents.
“This hospital will cater to the immediate and long-term medical needs of our people. We understand the burden many face travelling long distances to access healthcare, and this project is our strategic response to that challenge,” he said.
The federal lawmaker stressed that healthcare remains a critical pillar of development and that his administration would not relent in delivering on his campaign promises.
Earlier in his remarks, the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Irele Local Government, Chief Z.A. Omoge, lauded the initiative as a timely and laudable intervention. He described Odimayo as a worthy representative whose achievements since assuming office have continued to draw commendations.
Chief Omoge noted that, “This hospital project is a testament to Hon. Odimayo’s responsiveness to the cries of the people. His performance is not only commendable but exemplary.”
Giving further insight into the technical aspects of the project, the contractor handling the construction, Engineer Iyanu Onasanya, disclosed that the hospital will house 20 rooms, including a well-equipped emergency ward, male and female wards, and a state-of-the-art surgical theatre.
He assured that the facility will be constructed in accordance with the Ministry of Works’ standards and will align with global best practices in healthcare infrastructure.
“We are committed to delivering a project that meets both national and international standards. The people of Okitipupa and Irele deserve the best, and we will ensure that is what they get,” Onasanya assured.
The event was graced by notable political figures and stakeholders, including Chief Femi Moyegun, Hon. Afolabi Iwalewa, Hon. Sayo Ogunmade, Hon. Bode Bobola, Mr. Bulu Ayorinde, Mr. Dele Igbekele, Chief Fayemi Akinrodoye, Chief Oyinlola, and Mr. Niyi Adetarami, among others.
They described the project as a game-changer for the people of Ode Irele and its environs, commending Odimayo for his visionary leadership and people-oriented approach to governance.
The hospital project is expected to not only boost healthcare access but also stimulate economic activity in the community during and after its construction.
