Obayangban Launches Grass-Cutting Initiative in Schools to Enhance Environmental Sanitation

Hon. Bidemi Joshua Obayangban, the Special Assistant to Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa on Forestry (Ondo South), has taken a significant step towards improving education, promoting environmental sanitation, and ensuring child welfare with the launch of a comprehensive grass-cutting initiative targeting primary and secondary schools in Okitipupa/Irele Federal Constituency of Ondo State.

Starnews NG reports that the initiative aligns seamlessly with Governor Aiyedatiwa’s broader “Ease Agenda,” which aims to streamline various facets of life for citizens in the region.

The initiative was conceived in response to the pressing health and safety risks faced by young pupils and students who are often burdened with the manual task of grass-cutting. Recognising the challenges posed by their age, size, and physical limitations, Obayangban has proactively sought to create a safer and more conducive learning environment.

To address this concern effectively, Obayangban, a House of Representatives aspirant for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Okitipupa/Irele Federal Constituency, facilitated the acquisition and deployment of a grass-cutting mower, ensuring the safe and regular maintenance of school grounds.

In a chat with Starnews NG on Monday, he stated, “This initiative will not only enhance the aesthetic appeal of the schools but will also relieve students of the hazardous responsibilities associated with grass-cutting, allowing them to concentrate on their studies.”

Starnews gathered that the official launch of the initiative took place at Baptist Day Primary School in Ode-Aye town, Okitipupa local government area of the state, where a well-attended flag-off ceremony marked the occasion.

A dedicated committee has been established to oversee the management and operation of the mower, ensuring the initiative’s smooth execution in the months ahead, Starnews NG can report.

Obayangban, a philanthropist and grassroots politician, remarked, “I designed this programme for all public primary and secondary schools in Okitipupa/Irele Federal Constituency. The programme will address a critical gap in school maintenance practices.”

He added, “This initiative is part of my grassroots development commitment to the well-being of schoolchildren in my constituency. The aim is to foster a healthier, safer, and more efficient educational experience for all students in the region, ensuring they are provided with an environment conducive to learning and personal growth.”

During the flag-off ceremony, Comrade Bosede Adefuwa, the Head Teacher of Baptist Day Primary School, expressed her heartfelt gratitude to Hon. Obayangban for this thoughtful intervention. She stated that the initiative would not only enhance cleanliness standards and significantly improve safety measures within the school premises but also alleviate the burden of grass-cutting from both the school management and the students.

Starnews NG reports that Obayangban’s dedication to community development and improvement continues to delight his constituents, solidifying his reputation as a champion for progress and change.
