Obasa, Meranda, Lagos Attorney General in meeting with 38 lawmakers

Former Lagos State Speaker Mudashiru Obasa is in a meeting with Speaker Mojisola Lasbat Meranda, Lagos Attorney General Lawal Mohammed Alade Pedro (SAN), APC Chairman Cornelius Ojelabi, and 38 lawmakers at the assembly garden.

The meeting is taking place ahead of a scheduled plenary session later in the afternoon.

The reason for the gathering has not been made public, but it is believed to be connected to last week’s events in the house.

Obasa had entered the assembly complex last week and held a session with four lawmakers, despite being impeached by the majority.

His removal led to the appointment of Meranda as the new Speaker.

Meranda may step down as the APC leadership has reportedly stepped in to resolve the crisis.

In response to the tense situation, the Lagos State Police Command has stationed officers at the assembly complex to maintain order and prevent any possible disruption.
