Otunba Bamidele Akingboye (OBA), the gubernatorial candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) for the upcoming Ondo 2024 elections, experienced a surge of support during his recent visit to Okitipupa.
The town was lively with anticipation as numerous supporters lined the streets to welcome the prominent business mogul and entrepreneur.
Among the fervent supporters were members of a dedicated group led by Akinmose Akinola, known as Barika. Significantly, a notable faction from the APC, headed by social critic and former media adviser to Okitipupa LGA Chairman, Comrade Jide Oladipupo, under the banner of Liberty Forum, also joined the welcoming crowd. This group had officially defected to the SDP, expressing their belief in OBA’s leadership.
While OBA was engaging with grassroots supporters in Okitipupa, other SDP members and new defectors were conducting strategic meetings throughout the state. One such event was the Akure North Women for OBA, led by Mrs. Suliman Adesewa, highlighting the broad support for OBA’s campaign.
Additionally, a youth group in Akure has announced their backing of Otunba Akingboye.
They cited his popularity, consistency, and notable achievements in both his personal and philanthropic efforts as reasons for their support.
Throughout these activities, OBA has consistently emphasized his dedication to freeing Ondo State from what he describes as “oppressive jackboots.”
His campaign is continuously gaining momentum, attracting support from a wide range of demographics across the state.
