NURTW: Southwest Zonal Chairman Denies MC Oluomo’s Membership

The Southwest Zonal Chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Olalekan Folorunsho, popularly known as Lekan Salami, has clarified that Musiliu Akinsanya, widely known as MC Oluomo, is no longer a member of the union.

Salami explained that MC Oluomo forfeited his membership in 2022 after publicly destroying his union identification card. This act followed a disciplinary notice issued by the NURTW national leadership, effectively ending his association with the union.

“According to our constitution, anyone seeking reinstatement after leaving the union must formally apply to the national leadership. If accepted, they must then serve a two-year probation period and start from the lowest rank as a unit chairman,” Salami stated. “MC Oluomo has not fulfilled these requirements, making him ineligible to hold any position within the union.”

Salami also reiterated support for Alhaji Tajudeen Ibikunle Baruwa as the legitimate leader of the NURTW in Osun State. Baruwa’s leadership was recently upheld by the Court of Appeal, solidifying his authority.

He urged the government to enforce law and order, stressing that MC Oluomo should be restrained from engaging in activities that could destabilize the union or threaten public peace.
