The Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) Akure Branch is set to hold the inauguration ceremony of its newly elected Chairman, Engr. Oluwaseun D. Adeyeye, MNSE, FNICE, along with other executive members.
The event, scheduled for Thursday, 24th October 2024, and Friday, 25th October 2024, promises to be a grand occasion, with the President of the Nigerian Society of Engineers, Engr. Margaret Aina Oguntala, FNSE, expected to play a prominent role in the celebrations.
Engr. Adeyeye, who emerged as the winner of the branch election held on 19th August 2024, officially assumed office alongside his executive team on the same day.
His inauguration marks the beginning of a new leadership era for the Akure branch, with high expectations from the engineering community in the region.
The event is particularly historic, as it will be the first time the President of the NSE will physically attend a Chairman’s inauguration in the branch’s history.
Engr. Oguntala, the first female President of the NSE, will arrive in Akure on 24th October 2024, where she will be received with a grand welcome by the entire engineering community at Akure Airport.
Her visit to her home state as the President of the NSE has been described as a “carnival-like” occasion, with engineers from various fields, including civil, electrical, mechanical, and agricultural divisions, coming out in full force to celebrate her homecoming.
Accompanying her will be representatives from the Spouses Forum, further showcasing the NSE’s commitment to inclusivity within the profession.
Following her arrival, Engr. Oguntala will proceed to the palace of the Deji of Akure, HRH Oba (Dr) Aladetoyinbo Aladelusi Odundun II, to pay homage, in line with the customs of the state.
Her itinerary also includes a visit to inspect ongoing engineering projects within Akure, after which she will participate in a media chat with journalists at the NSE Secretariat in Alagbaka.
The day will culminate with an interactive session, “An Evening with the President,” at the NSE Secretariat. The session will provide a platform for stakeholders, engineering professionals, and industry leaders to engage in discussions about the future of engineering in Ondo State and beyond.
The highlight of the week’s events will be the inauguration ceremony on Friday, 25th October 2024, at the OSDPC Event Hall in Ijapo, Akure.
Engr. Oguntala will serve as the chairperson of the occasion, and the event will feature a keynote lecture by Engr. Adekunle Adefunke A., MNSE, Head of Audit Planning and Strategy at NNPC Ltd. Several dignitaries, including the Executive Governor of Ondo State, His Excellency Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, and the Governor of Oyo State, His Excellency Engr. Oluwaseyi A. Makinde, FNSE, are also expected to be in attendance.
Royal fathers, including HRM Oba Engr. Ademola Adebuje Oyinbade Olanipekun III (PhD), the Oloba of Uso, will grace the occasion, further underscoring the significance of the event.
The ceremony will also feature cultural performances by the Ondo State Cultural Troupe and entertainment from the Spouses Forum, followed by an awards ceremony recognising notable contributions to the engineering profession.
The series of events will conclude with a Thanksgiving service on Sunday, 27th October 2024, at the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) Higher Ground in Akure.
The NSE Akure Branch, through its Inauguration Planning Committee, has extended an open invitation to the general public to witness the historic inauguration and join in welcoming Engr. Oguntala to Akure.
