The Plateau State Police Command has dismissed reports of a bomb explosion near Murtala Way by Jos Terminus in Jos North Local Government Area, urging the public to remain calm.
In a statement on Tuesday, the Police Public Relations Officer, Alfred Alabo, clarified that the command received a report earlier in the morning about a suspected Improvised Explosive Device (IED) allegedly planted near the former Jos University Teaching Hospital (JUTH) site.
Alabo stated, “Around 8:20 a.m., we were alerted to a suspicious shallow hole, raising fears of a possible IED. The rumour sparked panic among residents.”
Responding swiftly, Commissioner of Police Emmanuel Adesina deployed the Anti-Bomb Squad to inspect the scene. “The team assessed the area and confirmed there were no explosives present,” Alabo confirmed.
The Commissioner later visited the location, praising the community for their calm and cooperation throughout the incident. He assured residents that the area was secure and urged them to go about their daily activities without fear.
