The New Nigeria People’s Party, NNPP, leadership has initiated an investigation into the activities of some executive committee members from five states who are accused of various offenses.
According to a statement from the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Ladipo Johnson, the probe follows the recent dissolution of party chapters in Taraba, Benue, Oyo, Bauchi, and Gombe states.
The action, taken in the first week of September, was part of the party’s efforts to reposition itself.
Johnson noted that the decision to investigate these members was made during an emergency National Working Committee, NWC, meeting in Abuja on Tuesday.
He described the probe as a routine measure for a dynamic political party committed to making necessary changes for growth and goal achievement.
The statement also listed those suspended for three months: Ayobami Adekunle, Rasheed Olopoeniyan, Demola Oke, Kilamuwaiye Badmus, Oyesola Ololade, Olayiwola Musibau, Tunde Adedapo, and Riike Olanira. Johnson cited breaches of the party’s constitution and offenses related to party and anti-party activities as reasons for their suspension.
“Of course, no serious leadership would condone such an attitude as alleged to have been perpetrated by these suspended members of the party.
“All those affected have been informed of the decision and will be expected to appear before the party’s National Disciplinary Committee.”
