The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has demanded the withdrawal of the Tax Reform Bills recently presented to the National Assembly by President Bola Tinubu.

According to Naija News, the union insisted that a more inclusive process involving key stakeholders is essential to ensure fairness and effectiveness in shaping the nation’s tax policies.

In its New Year address, the NLC emphasized the importance of addressing citizens’ welfare. It urged all levels of government to focus on providing access to essential needs such as food, healthcare, housing, education, and security.

The union highlighted that transparent and inclusive governance is vital for national development.

The NLC also warned against using force to suppress workers and unions, stressing that such actions would disrupt industrial harmony.

The group reiterated its commitment to fostering policies that improve workers’ livelihoods and enhance productivity.

Additionally, the NLC called for strict adherence to the 2024 National Minimum Wage Act and announced plans to negotiate wage adjustments to reflect current economic realities.

The union emphasized the need for unity and collaboration in tackling challenges and advancing national progress.
