The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has forecasted sunny and hazy weather conditions across different parts of the country from Saturday to Monday.
According to NiMet’s weather update released on Friday in Abuja, the North and North Central regions will experience sunny skies with a hazy atmosphere throughout the forecast period.
Meanwhile, the southern part of the country is expected to have cloudy skies in the morning, followed by sunshine.
Later in the day, thunderstorms may occur in some states, including Ondo, Ogun, Osun, Oyo, Lagos, Cross River, Akwa Ibom, Bayelsa, Edo, and Delta.
On Sunday, the northern and North Central regions will continue to have sunny and hazy conditions.
The southern states will start the day with cloudy skies and sunshine, but thunderstorms may develop later in the afternoon or evening in parts of Ondo, Oyo, Ekiti, Ogun, Edo, Lagos, Cross River, Akwa Ibom, Rivers, and Bayelsa.
By Monday, similar weather conditions are expected, with sunny and hazy skies in the North and North Central regions.
In the southern areas, cloudy skies and sunshine will dominate in the morning, with a chance of thunderstorms in Lagos, Edo, Bayelsa, and Cross River as the day progresses.
NiMet has advised the public to take necessary precautions, as dust particles in the atmosphere could affect people with respiratory conditions like asthma.
It also warned that strong winds might accompany thunderstorms in affected areas.
The agency urged residents to stay informed through weather updates and encouraged airline operators to obtain weather reports for safe flight planning.
