The Nigerian Army has warned Nigerians about a false advertisement claiming that recruitment into the Direct Short Service Commission (DSSC) and Short Service Commission (SSC) is currently ongoing.
The warning came on Saturday when the Acting Director of Army Public Relations, Lt-Col. Appolonia Anele, released a statement to clear the air.
The army explained that it has not started any recruitment or commissioning for DSSC or SSC this year. It said the information circulating online is fake and did not come from any official army source.
The army asked members of the public to disregard the false advert and remain patient until real announcements are made through trusted and official channels.
According to the statement, the Nigerian Army is worried that fraudsters are using fake advertisements like this to trick and steal from innocent people.
It urged everyone to be careful and not fall for scams that promise recruitment opportunities that do not exist.
The army also called on anyone with useful information about the fraudsters behind the fake advert to quickly report to the right authorities so that proper steps can be taken.
It assured the public that whenever there is an actual recruitment exercise, the details will be shared openly through official platforms.
