New Minimum Wage Implementation to Begin January 2025

By Our Correspondent

The Federal Government has confirmed that most states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) are expected to implement the new national minimum wage by January 2025.

This announcement came during a meeting in Abuja between the Minister of Labour and Employment, Muhammad Maigari Dingyadi, and representatives of the Association of Senior Civil Servants of Nigeria (ASCN).

The minister acknowledged that only a few states have fully complied with the policy so far, while others have made partial progress.

According to him, four or five states are yet to begin implementation.

The FCT administration has also committed to enforcing the new wage structure in January, although its workers have expressed a preference for immediate action.

Dingyadi assured that all concerns raised by the union, including those involving federal agencies and the Office of the Accountant General, would be addressed thoroughly.

The minister urged patience among workers and emphasized the importance of resolving disputes through peaceful dialogue.
