George Akume, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, recently said he couldn’t pay each of his four drivers N100,000 monthly, as the new minimum wage is in view.
Starnews NG reports that Nigerians have taken to social media to berate the SGF’s statement saying it is uncalled for.

Starnews NG reports how the organized labour embarked on a nationwide protest on Monday, which was called off the following day after several appeals from the federal government, who agreed to continue negotiation with the unions until a new minimum wage is agreed by both parties.
As a result, President Tinubu ordered the Minister of finance and coordinating Minister of the economy to work out a template for the new minimum wage and report to him within 48 hours.
