The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has successfully recovered a total of 557.2kg of skunk, 5.6kg of methamphetamine, and 29.8 grams of heroin from a warehouse in Bayelsa. The discovery was made during an operation along Major General Isaiah Allison Street, Opolo, Yenagoa, Bayelsa.
In a statement issued on Sunday, NDLEA spokesperson Femi Babafemi confirmed that four individuals were arrested during the raid, which took place on Wednesday, April 16. The arrested suspects are identified as Kurtis Sarimiye, 46; Roland Prosper, 34; Paul Sarimiye, 45; and Fidelis Ugbesla, 46.
Additionally, on Thursday, April 17, NDLEA operatives in Lagos intercepted a delivery van in the Surulere area and seized 1,100kg of skunk. The driver, Ismail Abdullahi, was taken into custody.
In a separate operation on Friday, April 18, NDLEA agents in Kaduna raided the residence of a suspect, Ike Ani, 30, in Zaria, where they recovered 31,950 pills of tramadol (225mg) and diazepam.
Meanwhile, in Kebbi, NDLEA officers on patrol along the Bagudo road intercepted a vehicle transporting bags of charcoal from Malabil, Benin Republic. After conducting a search, they found 97kg of skunk hidden within the sacks of charcoal. Three suspects—Abubakar Ibrahim, 50; Mustapha Aliyu, 32; and Bashar Lawali, 28—were arrested in connection with the find.
In Anambra State, the NDLEA arrested 48-year-old Okafor Marcel with 11.5kg of skunk in Abatete. Further, on Tuesday, April 15, NDLEA operatives in Oshogbo, Osun State, arrested 27-year-old Ajala Mercy, who was found in possession of 43 liters of “skushi,” a harmful mixture of black currant, cannabis, and opioids. The substances were recovered from her residence in the Dada Estate, Halleluyah area.
