The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) has begun repairing critical sections of the Owerri-Port Harcourt Road in Imo State, focusing on areas between Umuapu and Umuagwo.
The project, launched in response to the road’s deteriorating condition, aims to provide immediate relief to travelers facing difficulties due to the damage.
During an inspection of the site, the NDDC’s Managing Director, Dr. Samuel Ogbuku, evaluated progress and received updates from engineers managing the rehabilitation.
He reaffirmed the Commission’s commitment to swiftly restoring the road to ensure smoother travel.
This initiative follows directives from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for urgent attention to infrastructure issues in the Niger Delta region.
Ogbuku credited the federal government for its quick action to address public concerns and assured commuters of durable repairs upon completion.
The NDDC also called on local communities and travelers to remain patient during the construction, emphasizing the importance of collaboration in achieving the project’s timely conclusion.
