Many Nigerians were left without electricity on Wednesday after the national power grid suffered another collapse.
The failure happened shortly after 11 a.m., cutting off power supply across the country.
Reports from power generation companies confirmed a major disturbance in the system, causing most power plants to lose generation.
At 11 a.m., power generation stood at 4,064 megawatts, but it dropped sharply to 1,203 megawatts by noon and completely shut down by 1 p.m.
This is the first nationwide blackout caused by a grid collapse in 2025, following a similar incident in January.
In the past decade, the grid has failed over 100 times, with 12 occurrences recorded in 2024 alone.
The Abuja Electricity Distribution Company acknowledged the situation on its official platform, stating that efforts were underway to restore supply.
Power restoration has begun in some areas, while authorities work to stabilize the grid.
