Naira Strengthens to N1,740/$ in Parallel Market

The Naira appreciated on Thursday, trading at N1,740 per dollar in the parallel market, up from N1,745 per dollar recorded on Wednesday.

In the Nigerian Autonomous Foreign Exchange Market (NAFEM), the currency also gained strength, closing at N1,644.86 per dollar compared to N1,660.83 per dollar the previous day, marking a N15.97 improvement.

Data from FMDQ showed a 66% surge in dollar trading volume, with turnover rising to $560.34 million from $337.07 million on Wednesday.

Consequently, the disparity between the parallel market rate and the NAFEM rate widened to N95.14 per dollar, compared to N84.17 per dollar a day earlier.
