The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has closed a warehouse in Kaduna for storing expired food and cosmetic products valued at over N75 million.
The agency took action after receiving a tip-off from a concerned citizen.
The warehouse, located on PP2A Bayajidda Street, was found to have workers repackaging expired goods, including biscuits, dairy milk, vegetable oil, soft drinks, and detergents.
The warehouse manager has been arrested for questioning. NAFDAC also discovered expired medical items, including H-Pylori test kits, which pose serious health risks, Channels TV reports.
The agency has outlined strict guidelines for handling expired or unsafe products, stressing that only registered items can be sold or used in Nigeria.
NAFDAC urged the public to report suspicious activities and products to the nearest office.
