N15m Ransom Paid As Kidnapped Rivers Director Regains Freedom

A Director in the service of the Rivers State Board of Internal Revenue who was kidnapped earlier last month has regained his freedom.

Dr Aribibia Fubara who was kidnapped on Saturday 24th August at the Okrika waterfront near the Marine Base area of PH has regained his freedom.

It was gathered that Dr Fubara was released a little after midnight on Thursday last week on one of the smaller islands around Bonny. He was however not reunited with his family until Friday 6th September 2024.

A family source who doesn’t wish to be named confirmed his release while also revealing that the sum of N15m was paid to secure his release from his abductors.

The victim was held captive for a total of 12 days before he was released.

As of the time of filing this report, the state Police Command has scheduled a briefing for the Commissioner of Police where his release and other issues are expected to be addressed.
