Excerpts
What is your reaction to the just concluded Presidential and National Assembly Elections in Ondo South, most especially in your federal constituency?
Firstly, I must appreciate our people across the party divide for maintaining a calm and friendly atmosphere in course of the election. Beyond the results, I’m impressed with the running here; the peace, law and order maintained. More importantly, our people were able to vote for their chosen candidates across the party lines without intimidation and monetary inducement.
Do you think your party, APC, can sweep the state house of assembly election in Ondo South as it did during the just concluded National Assembly Elections?
As a party man, yes. I’m confident of our victory. However, this is left for the electorates to answer. We’ll do our part as a party and as one that wants victory for her candidates, same way preparation is in top gear in other camps. It all lies in the hands of our people whilst I believe they’ll surely make the right choice.
The opposition party, PDP, fielded a candidate from your home town, Ode Aye, will you also work against him as you did against the PDP in favour of your party during the national assembly election?
Smile. Just like I said earlier, this is best left in the hands of the electorates. We need to understand that our people know and want the best for themselves. It’s a democracy, it’s not about me. We’ll all make this choice; certainly, the best one for us all.
What message do you have for Jimoh Ibrahim, the Senator-elect and Jimmy Odimayo, the House of Representative-elect who are both from your immediate constituency?
I’ll like to congratulate them again. It’s a hard-fought and well-deserved victory. Whilst I do not doubt their delivery capacity, I’ll charge them not to betray the trust bestowed on them by the people. They must hit the ground running as a lot is needed to be put in place. I know with them, Ikale nation, and Ondo South will be projected to the greatness they deserve. Our people must keep hope alive!
As a US-based Medical Doctor that is well-to-do, why do you join Nigerian politics and actively involved in it?
Thanks for the acknowledgement. My coming into politics is simply to contribute my token positively to the nation, people and humanity at large. It’s no more news that I have my foundation running actively from where I do my bit to helping people.
Being active in politics is just to create another dimension for me to expand my coast and reach to helping people, writing my name in gold in the heart of many and more importantly, unceasingly serving humanity.
Do you have a message for your constituents?
I’ll appreciate our people for the calmness displayed before and during this electioneering season. More so, I want to implore them all to keep hope alive and continue to support our party and government. Just at the end of every, comes a shining light. This I pray we’ll all live to experience. Much undying love to everyone.
