My daughter’s death brought people together – NNPCL chief, Kyari

The Group Chief Executive Officer (GCEO) of the Nigeria National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), Mele Kyari, has stated that the death of his daughter, Fatima, brought many people together and demonstrated that Nigerians can care for others irrespective of their social circumstances.

He stated this while expressing his gratitude for the outpouring of support following the passing of his daughter.

Kyari added that Fatima departed at her appointed time, and hopes to meet her in Jannah.

This was disclosed in a statement the NNPCL chief shared via his X handle on Tuesday, October 15.

The statement reads: “My daughter Fatima departed at her appointed time and looking forward to meeting her in Jannah by Allah’s grace. While the loss is great by all measures, we remain grateful to God for all his mercies.

“I didn’t know the depth of her connections with many people and what she meant to many. Despite her physical challenges, she is able touch hearts in very soothing ways, including me. Above all, her demise brought many people together and demonstrated that we all can care for others irrespective of our social circumstances.

“I profoundly thank our leaders, family members, friends, associates, colleagues, our teachers and the countless unmentioned that joined us to pray for the repose of her soul and for consoling us.”

The 25-year-old Fatima died on Friday, after a protracted illness.
