My agenda as Acting Chairman of PDP in Ondo — Alabere

By Miracle Ogunde

Following his appointment as the acting Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ondo state by the State Executive Committee (SEC), Hon. Tola Alabere has reeled out a four point agenda he plans to execute in restoring the lost glory of the party in the state.

Alabere disclosed this in an interview with Starnews NG on Friday, saying divisions within the party is militating against its progress in the state.

When asked about his agenda for the party as the new chairman, he said, “You will agree with me that the party as it is in Ondo State today is in shambles. There are divisions in the party which account for why we’ve not been winning elections in the recent past. A house divided against itself can never stand.

“So, as a policy, the first and perhaps the most important focus of my team will be on how to unite the party and bring it back to winning ways.

“My second plan is to ensure that the platform of the PDP becomes more attractive.

“Also, I will ensure smooth relationships amongst all the party Elders and Leaders across the 18 local governments of Ondo State. The other focus is to provide a platform for viable opposition.

“The above are my focus for now, among other numerous programmes we intend to implement given the limited time that we have ahead of the state governorship election,” he said.

Starnews NG reports that the appointment of Alabere as the acting Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ondo State was ratified by the State Executive Committee (SEC) at a meeting held at the party’s secretariat.

The decision was announced in a press conference after an emergency meeting of the SEC at the party’s secretariat in Akure, on Thursday.

This follows the suspension of Fatai Adams by nine out of the eleven members of the State Working Committee.

Starnews NG had reported on Tuesday that the State Working Committee (SWC) of PDP suspended Adams, citing alleged anti-party activities and actions detrimental to the party’s reputation.
