Moses Jituboh, the former Aide-de-Camp (ADC) to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, has passed away at the age of 54 after a brief illness, a source confirmed late on Friday.
The source stated that Jituboh died on Friday, and an autopsy is underway to determine the cause of death.
“Yes, I can confirm that Moses Jituboh has died. I just spoke with a community chief,” the source reported.
Jituboh served as Jonathan’s ADC during his tenure as both Governor of Bayelsa State and Vice President, and he continued in the role when Jonathan became President.
After Jonathan’s defeat in the 2015 presidential election, Jituboh returned to his duties with the police force and was once considered for the position of Inspector General of Police, though he did not ultimately secure the role.
In a statement released on Saturday, the Zone 16 Police Command expressed condolences to Jituboh’s family and the people of Bayelsa State. The Assistant Inspector General of Police for Zone 16, Adebola Hamzat, extended his sympathy, describing Jituboh’s death as a great loss to both his family and the nation.
Jituboh’s distinguished service to the Nigeria Police Force, which included roles as Deputy Inspector General (DIG) in the Department of Research and Planning and in the Department of Information & Communications Technology (ICT), was also acknowledged.
“His legacy of dedication and integrity will remain a lasting memory,” the statement read.
The police command prayed for strength for Jituboh’s family to bear the loss and offered their heartfelt condolences.
