Mob overpower police, kill man over blasphemy

An individual identified as Yunusa was killed by an angry mob in the Nasaru community of the Ningi local government area for allegedly making blasphemous comments about Prophet Muhammad.

According to local residents, the incident began with a heated argument between Yunusa and another person. During this argument, Yunusa allegedly made blasphemous remarks, which quickly led to mob violence.

“The victim was a member of the Faira Islamic Sect. When he insulted the Prophet, some young men demanded he retract his statement. He refused and repeated it, which led to the beating,” an eyewitness told The Nation.

Another eyewitness, who chose to remain anonymous due to the volatile situation, stated that the police initially rescued Yunusa and took him to their outpost in the community. However, the mob overpowered the police and killed him.

The state police command has not yet commented on the incident.
