The Nigerian Air Force (NAF), operating under the air component of Operation Fansan Yamma, has successfully neutralized numerous bandits and destroyed their logistics base in a series of targeted airstrikes.
According to Afripost, the operation took place in Alawa Forest, located within Shiroro Local Government Area (LGA) of Niger State, following credible intelligence and aerial surveillance that identified the presence of armed terrorists. These individuals were linked to several violent incidents, including two deadly improvised explosive device (IED) attacks on December 19, 2024, in Bassa, Shiroro LGA, which resulted in civilian casualties.
On Tuesday, NAF launched a three-day aerial offensive, codenamed “Konan Daji,” aimed at dismantling the terrorists’ stronghold and rendering the forest unsuitable for their operations. Fighter jets were deployed for precision strikes on key locations within the forest.
The airstrikes proved to be highly successful, leading to the neutralization of several armed fighters and the destruction of the terrorists’ logistics hub, as indicated by multiple secondary explosions.
NAF described the operation as a major step in the fight against terrorism and vowed to continue efforts to eliminate criminal elements from Alawa Forest and surrounding areas, ensuring long-term peace and security for local communities.
