Masquerade Brutalises Corps member in Lagos

Masquerade Brutalises Nigerian Youth Corps, NYSC Member In Lagos.

The corps member who identified himself as David Estmuza told SaharaReporters in a telephone conversation on Saturday that he was on his way to cut his hair, when he was accosted by the masquerade who physically assaulted him.

David mentioned that the incident happened around 3pm on Friday without any adequate notice to warn them about the traditional worshippers’ rite, popularly known as Oro.

“The notice about the Oro was not well passed. I was later told the notice was passed through a gun which someone like me who is not an indigene did not understand,” David said.

He continued: “I was beaten and eventually landed in a nearby medical facility where I spent N6400 to treat myself. I was abandoned by the Masquerade that beat me.”

Recall that there was outrage in the Nsukka Local Government Area of Enugu State after a group of masquerades known as Oriokpa Nsukka beat a female nurse identified as Miss Blessing Ogbonna, a staff of a private hospital, to near-death earlier this month.

It was gathered that the masquerades flogged the nurse who was dressed in her official attire until she fell down from a motorcycle and while she tried to get up and run, the masquerades in their numbers continued beating her till she fell into a drainage.
