Man City defeat Man Utd on penalties to win 2024 Community Shield

Manchester City needed penalties to defeat Manchester United in the 2024 Community Shield on Saturday.

The game had ended 1-1 after regulation time after two second-half goals.

Alejandro Garnacho opened the scoring with a sublime solo goal, before Bernardo Silva levelled in the dying minutes.

Jadon Sancho and Johnny Evans missed their kicks as City won 7-6 during the shoot-out.

United will now prepare for next Friday’s Premier League opener against Fulham at Old Trafford.

Pep Guardiola’s men begin their title defence at Chelsea on Sunday.
