Man Arrested for Alleged Burglary, Theft of Phones Worth N373,000 in Ogun

The Ogun State Police Command has arrested Gbadebo Sodiq for allegedly breaking into a home in the Eleweran area of Abeokuta and stealing valuables worth N373,000.

According to Afripost, Confirming the arrest in a statement on Monday, Command spokesperson CSP Omolola Odutola stated that the incident was reported on February 7, 2025, by the homeowner, Akeem Saka.

According to the report, burglars stole an Infinix Smart 9 valued at N148,000, an Oppo F9 worth N120,000, a small Tecno phone priced at N30,000, and a bag containing N75,000 in cash.

During the investigation, Saka expressed suspicion about one of his tenants, prompting officers from the Anti-Crime Section to detain two women, Ewatooyin Adebayo and Mariam Atobatele, for questioning.

Further findings revealed that one of the detained women had left the door unlocked on the night of February 6, 2025, providing an opportunity for Sodiq to gain access and commit the theft.

He was eventually apprehended in Lafenwa while attempting to sell the stolen phones. Upon his arrest, he reportedly confessed to the crime, and the stolen items were successfully recovered.

Sodiq remains in police custody as further investigations continue.
