List Of Ministers, Governors Whose Whatsapp, Phone Number Have Been Hacked

In 2024, several Nigerian government officials experienced hacking incidents that compromised their phone numbers and WhatsApp accounts, sparking concerns about cybersecurity.

Here’s a detailed list of those affected:

Adebayo Adelabu, the Minister of Power, had his WhatsApp account hacked on October 4, 2024. The breach was confirmed by his spokesperson.

Professor Tahir Mamman, the Minister of Education, had his WhatsApp account compromised by fraudsters on September 27, 2024. This led to a public alert from the Ministry of Education.

Senator John Enoh, the Minister of Sports Development, had his WhatsApp account hacked on September 9, 2024, with the incident made public by his spokesperson.

Umo Eno, Governor of Akwa Ibom State, faced a WhatsApp hack on August 14, 2024. Fraudsters attempted to use the account to defraud his contacts.

Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State experienced a security breach on his official phone number on July 16, 2024. A public alert was issued, urging people to disregard messages from the hacked number.

Bassey Otu, the Governor of Cross River State, had one of his phone numbers compromised on February 11, 2024, in a scam attempt to extort money from unsuspecting individuals.
