In a series of well-coordinated operations, the Lagos State Taskforce has successfully arrested 30 individuals suspected of various criminal activities in notorious areas across the state.
According to Afripost, the raids, led by Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) Adetayo Akerele, took place on Friday and focused on high-crime locations, including Mile-12 Under-Bridge, Ketu Bus Stop, and Alapere, within the Agboyi-Ketu and Alapere corridors. According to Akerele, 20 individuals were detained during this operation, with all suspects facing immediate prosecution.
“These suspects are believed to be involved in various illicit activities, and they are now in custody awaiting legal proceedings,” Akerele stated, adding that the operation was carried out in response to public concerns about the rising levels of criminal activity in these areas.
In a separate initiative, a special transport union taskforce in Oshodi apprehended 10 suspected criminals involved in robbing commuters around Oshodi-Oke and surrounding areas. Among those arrested was a recently released ex-convict, who was captured at his hideout atop the Oshodi pedestrian bridge. The suspects, implicated in crimes like phone snatching, pickpocketing, and environmental violations, were handed over to the state taskforce for further legal action.
Additionally, with the support of KAI Marshal Major Olaniyi Cole and the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), the taskforce raided a criminal hideout disguised as a shop, leading to the arrest of more than 12 suspects.
These operations demonstrate the Lagos State Taskforce’s ongoing commitment to improving security and safeguarding residents. Authorities have urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to help further the fight against crime.
