The Lagos State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has criticized Abdul-Azeez Adediran, also known as Jandor, for leaving the party and returning to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Jandor, who was the PDP governorship candidate in the 2023 election, announced in a press conference on Monday that he was rejoining the APC. He had earlier resigned from the PDP on March 3, 2025, saying the party lacked discipline and that its leaders betrayed him.
PDP’s Deputy Chairman in Lagos, Tai Benedict, reacted by saying Jandor was never truly part of their party. He accused Jandor of being a secret APC agent sent to weaken the PDP. Benedict claimed Jandor disrupted the party and unfairly took the governorship ticket. He also criticized Jandor’s decision to pick actress Funke Akindele as his running mate, believing her large Instagram following would help them win, but they ended up with only 62,000 votes.
Benedict said he was happy Jandor left and described his departure as a relief rather than a loss.
Meanwhile, the APC welcomed Jandor back. The party’s spokesperson, Seye Oladejo, called Jandor a young and ambitious politician who had simply returned home. He said the APC was ready to work with him and expected more politicians to join them before the next election.
Oladejo dismissed the PDP’s claim that Jandor was an APC agent, saying it was just an excuse for the PDP’s internal problems. He argued that the PDP was always in crisis and could not organize itself properly.
The APC believes Lagos is better under their leadership and that they will continue to gain the trust of voters.
