A group in Lagos under the auspices of Save Lagos Group (SLG) has lauded the Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, over his stand against godfatherism in Lagos which was widely believed to be against the national leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu.
The SLG convener, Comrade Adeniyi Alimi Sulaiman, in a statement on Sunday, said El-Rufai captured the feelings of many Lagosians in his comment.
The group also advised Tinubu to drop his 2023 ambition, adding that if the presidency was to be zoned to the Southwest, Vice-President, Yemi Osinbajo “is more qualified and will be supported instead of Tinubu believed to be his godfather”.
It said Tinubu still had a certificate saga on his neck and that it would not augur well for the Yoruba to push such a character forward for the position of President when the region has current Vice-President who is a Professor of Law and Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN).
SLG described Tinubu as a “self-centred leader who only uses enthronement of his political godsons in various political offices to enrich himself and his family members, instead of rendering selfless service to humanity”.
The group called on the Yoruba to “rise against the domineering tendency of Senator Bola Tinubu by taking their destinies in their hands and put stop to the ongoing political slavery in the region and the Lagos State.”
“It is fascist idea for only Senator Bola Tinubu to be determined who gets what, when and how in the political space of the region vis a vis the State.”
