Kogi Government Orders Eviction of Illegal Occupants from National Housing Units

By: Bayero Ade

The Kogi State Government has issued an immediate eviction order for all illegal occupants of the National Housing units located in the Crusher area of Lokoja.

According to NAN, Taiye Abanika, the state’s Commissioner for Housing and Urban Development, made the announcement on Friday, January 3, 2025.

Abanika expressed concerns over the illegal occupation of the housing units, stating that these actions had undermined the objectives of the National Housing Programme, which is designed to provide affordable housing solutions for Nigerians.

He revealed that a large percentage of the homes were currently occupied unlawfully, with some even being sold to unsuspecting individuals.

The commissioner explained that the government’s decision was aimed at clearing the properties to allow rightful allottees, who had fulfilled payment requirements, to take possession of their homes.

He assured that necessary steps would be taken to restore order and preserve the integrity of the programme.
