Kidnapper arrested after collecting ransom in advance

 

The Plateau State police command has apprehended a man for extorting ransom from a potential kidnapping victim.

Commissioner of Police, Emmanuel Olugbemiga Adesina, disclosed this during a parade of suspects in Jos on Friday.

The suspect, identified as Suleiman Adamu Garba from Nanga Gindiri, Mangu local government area of Plateau State, allegedly collaborated with Adamu Langai, who is currently on the run.

They reportedly threatened the victim with kidnapping unless he paid them N1 million.

However, the victim promptly reported the incident to the police after paying the ransom, leading to an immediate investigation by the Gindiri divisional Headquarters.

He said, “During our investigation, the anonymous caller was tracked through his GSM number and was eventually arrested by Gindiri police operatives in connection to the reported incident.

“On interrogation, the suspect named, Suleiman Adamu Garba ‘m’ of Nanga Gindiri, Mangu LGA of Plateau State confessed voluntarily to have committed the offence with one Adamu Langai who is now at large.

He said that the case is still under investigation and efforts are on to apprehend the fleeing suspect.

Among those paraded were armed bandits, cultists and rapists.
