The All Progressives Congress (APC) has been thrown into mourning following the brutal killing of its Director of Administration, Dr. Abdulraif Adekunle Adeniji, who was abducted in January despite efforts to secure his release.
Dr. Adeniji was kidnapped on January 26, 2025, in the Chikakore area of Kubwa, Abuja, by gunmen reportedly wielding assault rifles. He was taken along with his wife and brother while on a visit. Tragically, his wife was shot dead at the scene after she struggled to keep pace with the abductors.
Despite reportedly paying a ransom of N90 million, the kidnappers still went ahead to kill Dr. Adeniji, sparking outrage and deep sorrow within the party.
In response to the heartbreaking news, the APC Deputy Director of Administration, Ubagha Abel, announced the immediate shutdown of the party’s National Secretariat until April 14.
“The National Secretary has directed the suspension of all official and party activities in honor of the late Dr. Adeniji,” the statement read. “This period is to be observed as a time of sober reflection and prayers for the peaceful repose of his soul.”
The party also ordered that its flags be flown at half-mast nationwide as a mark of respect during the mourning period.
