Kebbi: Bandits Attack Community, Claim One Life, Kidnap District Head

A bandit raid on Kanya, a village in the Danko/Wasagu Local Government Area of Kebbi State, has resulted in the abduction of at least eight individuals, including district chief Alhaji Isah Daya.

The attack occurred around midnight on Sunday, during which Sheriff Almu was killed, and three others sustained gunshot injuries and are currently receiving medical treatment.

This incident follows closely on the heels of another attack just two days prior, where bandits kidnapped a resident from Matseri village in Bunza and murdered Alhaji Bako Bala, the APC chairman of Suru Local Government Area, in Takalafiya.

The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Nafiu Abubakar, confirmed the developments, stating that a joint security team, led by the police, has initiated a search operation to rescue the abducted individuals and apprehend the perpetrators.

Kebbi State Governor Nasiru Idris expressed his alarm over the abductions, assuring the public that the state government, in conjunction with security agencies, is making every effort to secure their release. He also mentioned that the state government has provided essential logistics to bolster the fight against banditry in the affected regions.
