Kano Hisbah Declares Jigawa Commissioner Wanted Over Adultery Allegation

The Kano State Hisbah Board has declared Auwal Danladi Sankara, the suspended Jigawa State Commissioner for Special Duties, wanted after he failed to appear for a reconciliation meeting regarding an adultery allegation involving a married woman.

Speaking at a press conference on Monday, the Commandant General of Hisbah, Sheikh Aminu Ibrahim Daurawa, explained that the board had sought to mediate between the parties before taking further steps. However, Sankara reportedly ignored the invitation to participate in the reconciliation process.

“The commissioner has chosen to disregard our attempts to address the issue amicably, which has left us with no choice but to seek his arrest and prosecution,” said Sheikh Daurawa.

He emphasized that the Hisbah Board is “widely recognized for promoting Islamic values and handling cases of this nature through reconciliation.” When such efforts fail, he added, legal action becomes necessary.
