A senior traditional figure from the Zazzau Emirate in Kaduna State has passed away after collapsing at a public event on Thursday.
Alhaji Rilwan Yahaya Pate, who held the title of Sarkin Yakin Zazzau, fainted while attending the gathering alongside the Emir of Zazzau, Mallam Ahmed Nuhu Bamalli.
The incident took place at the Gambo Sawaba General Hospital in Kofar Gayan, Zaria.
The Zazzau Emirate Council confirmed his passing, stating that Alhaji Pate, who also served as a councillor on health matters, died while at the hospital.
His remains were later laid to rest in Rimin Dodo.
In a condolence message, Emir Mallam Ahmed Nuhu Bamalli expressed deep sorrow, acknowledging that death is an inevitable part of God’s will.
He described the late Sarkin Yakin Zazzau as a devout and dedicated figure whose absence would be profoundly felt.
