Just In: Gunmen Attack Taraba Governor’s Mother, Sister

Suspected bandits launched a brazen attack on Jumai Kefas, the mother of Taraba State Governor, Agbu Kefas, and his sister, Atsi Kefas, along Kente Road in Wukari Local Government Area on Thursday.

The incident left Atsi Kefas with a gunshot wound. She was initially treated at the Federal Teaching Hospital in Wukari before being airlifted to Abuja for advanced medical care. Confirming the attack, the Wukari Local Government Council Chairman, Dauda Samaila Agbu, described it as “deeply troubling.”

“Her condition was stabilised before she was airlifted to Abuja for further medical attention,” the council chairman stated, urging residents to remain calm as security agencies intensify efforts to apprehend the perpetrators.

The Taraba State Police Command also confirmed the attack through its Public Relations Officer, Usman Abdullahi, who described it as an armed robbery incident. However, he did not confirm if the victims were related to the governor.

“One of the occupants of the vehicle sustained gunshot injuries,” Abdullahi disclosed.

At the time of filing this report, no official statement had been released by the Taraba State Government regarding the incident.
