The Federal High Court in Abuja on Wednesday granted bail to ten #EndBadGovernance protesters accused of attempting to overthrow President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s government between July 1 and August 4 this year.
Justice Emeka Nwite set the bail at N10 million for each of the protesters, with strict conditions.
Each defendant must provide a surety who is a resident and property owner in Abuja, alongside depositing property documents, international passports, and three recent passport photos with the court.
The sureties are also required to swear an affidavit of means.
Rejecting objections from the Inspector General of Police (IGP) regarding the bail, the judge ruled that the defendants must not participate in any public rallies throughout their trial. Until they meet the bail conditions, they will remain in custody.
The protesters, identified as Michael Tobiloba Adaramoye, Adeyemi Abiodun Abayomi, Suleiman Yakubu, Opaluwa Eleojo Simon, Angel Love Innocent, Buhari Lawal, Mosiu Sadiq, Bashir Bello, Nurudeen Khamis, and Abduldalam Zubair, face charges of treason for allegedly inciting the public, calling for a military takeover, and attacking public properties during nationwide protests.
Their trial is set to begin on September 27.
