Just In: Akeredolu Meets Tinubu, Both of Them Resolve Differences

Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu of Ondo state has reportedly settled the quarrel between him and the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, following a reconciliation meeting organised by a former APC national vice chairman southwest, Chief Pius Akinyelure.

Starnews learnt that chief Pius has made several attempts to bring the duo together but had suffered setbacks until late last week when Akeredolu flew to Abuja to honor Akinyelure’s invitation to meet with the former Lagos State governor.

Akeredolu strained relationship begun with Tinubu in 2016 when Tinubu endorsed Olusegun Abraham against Akeredolu in the September 3, 2016, APC governorship primary in Ondo state. 

Akeredolu eventually won the primary and was subsequently elected governor of Ondo state without Tinubu’s backing. Ever since then, both of them were not on good terms.

Though Tinubu later made a surprise appearance at Akeredolu’s inuaguration, but the relationship between both of them had been soured since that time.

Report had it that after the two men met, they both expressed their grievances and resolved to work together in the overall interest of the party in Ondo State. 

At the end of the meeting, It was reported that Tinubu assured Akeredolu that “the war was over” and tasked him on the need to reconcile all different tendencies in Ondo APC ahead of 2020 election.

On his part, Akeredolu thanked Asiwaju Tinubu and promised to work for the unity of the party.
