The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has stated that no final decision has been made regarding the delineation of wards in Warri Federal Constituency.
The commission made this known on Thursday, April 10, 2025, urging Nigerians to ignore reports suggesting otherwise.
According to INEC, the process of defining ward boundaries for Warri North, Warri South, and Warri South West Federal Constituencies is still ongoing.
This follows a judgment by the Supreme Court on December 2, 2022, which ordered the delineation.
In its efforts to ensure a fair process, INEC began consultations in February 2023 and continued through July 2024, engaging stakeholders across all three local government areas.
These consultations included fieldwork and the creation of a draft report.
Most recently, INEC held another round of discussions on April 4, 2025, where copies of the draft report were shared with local representatives.
This allowed stakeholders to express any concerns and aim for an agreement that would be accepted by all parties.
INEC clarified that despite ongoing conversations, no conclusive decision has been reached on the matter.
The commission invited stakeholders to submit their feedback on the draft report to guide further actions.
INEC also appealed to all involved parties to avoid actions that could disturb the peace and security of the region and reaffirmed its commitment to fairness and the rule of law in handling the issue.
